WORK EXPERIENCE

Family Room Specialist, Apple, Inc.
DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA / AUGUST 2010 – AUGUST 2011
As a family room specialist, I provided personal training for Apple’s One to One program members on Mac OS X and Apple software, as well as technical support for small devices, including iPhones, iPads, and iPods.  Additionally, this role involved facilitating data transfers between customers’ existing Macs or PCs to their new Macs.

Shift Supervisor, Starbucks Coffee
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK / MAY 2007 – DECEMBER 2009
This position entailed preparing and serving delicious beverages in a high-pressure team environment. As shift supervisor, I was responsible for the deployment of all partners on the shift, ensuring quality customer service, effective task management, and cash handling, including safe/till supervision and deposit preparation. Additionally, I was a certified learning coach to train new employees.

Substitute Teacher, Bolivar-Richburg Central School
BOLIVAR, NEW YORK / DECEMBER 2006 – JUNE 2007
While providing short-term coverage for high school and elementary teachers, I delivered specific lesson plans to classes. I worked to maintain a positive classroom environment that was conducive to learning.

Senior Writing Tutor, Writing Center at Saint John Fisher College
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK / SEPTEMBER 2005 – MAY 2007
As a tutor in the Writing Center, I assisted undergrads, graduate students, and professionals with several aspects of writing, including structure, organization, coherence, prewriting, interpreting instructor feedback, information literacy skills, and MLA and APA citation. One of only two Senior Writing Tutors, I spoke in classrooms on behalf of the Writing Center, organized workshop evaluations and patron information into meaningful data sets, managed payroll, provided workshops for classes, produced and maintained a tutoring schedule, and regularly completed manifold clerical duties.

Student Employee, Lavery Library at Saint John Fisher College
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK / SEPTEMBER 2004 – SEPTEMBER 2006
This position spanned many library departments, such as A/V, Reference, Circulation, Acquisitions, and Systems. I assisted in the implementation of a federated search program, acted as weekend circulation supervisor with opening and closing responsibilities, maintained the library’s popular DVD website, dealt with confidential student and faculty information, purchased and processed new materials, maintained A/V equipment, and carried out large projects such as tracking down lost/missing items and weeding reference materials.


ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

East High School ROCHESTER, NEW YORK / 2009
The fieldwork I completed at this site was part of my graduate degree program. I created ALA READ posters that featured students, faculty, and staff from the school. I took the photographs, created the posters in Photoshop, and compiled a video slideshow of the images. The large posters were hung throughout the school.

Brookside Elementary School GREECE, NEW YORK / 2009
This elementary fieldwork experience was part of my graduate program. I developed a system to help students more easily navigate the library’s classification system. The project included shelf labels and bright shelf placeholders. In addition to the classification project, I assisted the School Media Specialist in cataloging print materials, creating/updating displays, and working with students.

Bolivar-Richburg High School BOLIVAR, NEW YORK / 2010
As a student teacher, I focused on collaborating with teachers in a 6-12 building. For various classes, I executed lessons on plagiarism, delivering oral presentations, creating effective PowerPoint presentations, research techniques, and citation. I catered each lesson to relevant course curriculum. Additionally, I created a library map with useful navigational information, as well as a large display on online identities.

Children’s School of Rochester ROCHESTER, NEW YORK / 2010
At this school, I was a student teacher in the library. I developed and executed lesson plans for elementary students, including units on multimedia book reviews and filmmaking. I also worked on deselection and development of the library’s fairy tale collection. Additionally, I temporarily participated in many committees, including the facilities work group, instructional task meetings, school operations, Citywide library council, and WXXI Educational Advisory Board.


TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS

Many of my educational and professional experiences, including the distance graduate program at Syracuse University, have provided me with a broad knowledge of computers and emerging technology. I am proficient with both Macintosh and PC operating systems and the software commonly associated with each. I am comfortable using an array of design and production software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Swish, ProTools, Reason, and Quark. My experience also incorporates the management programs WorkFlows, TutorTrac, Mandarin, and Destiny. Finally, I am familiar with various Internet-based programs and social media platforms as instructional aids.
